Love it. Recommend it. Apr 17, 2010 Purchased AW2 to listen to music on my deck. Have wired outdoor speakers (Paradigm) and hated walking back inside to change volume, song, or CD. This device solved the problem. I love it! Recommend it!
Distance between amp (Yamaha RX-V1) and my deck is about 40 ft (too far for AW2) but this was solved using an extension cable (Monoprice 5603) between AW2 receiver and Yamaha amp. This allowed AW2 receiver to be plugged in (via AC) near the deck.
:-)
+ easy set up
+ controls iPOD volume and track
+ sounds great outdoors (far superior to FM or Bluetooth)
+battery life is acceptable. While it drains battery of iPOD faster, still get at least 3-4 hrs continuous play
:-(
-working distance is 15-20 ft when not line-of-site
-interferes with wireless G (cannot use my laptop and AW2 simultaneously. Granted, wireless signal is low on the deck and boosting it may eliminate the problem)
-sound quality is very good but is not equivalent to a good CD player (even with lossless ripping)

Audiophile quality Jan 24, 2010 Been using this beauty for a week and am completely blown away by the improvement in sound quality over the wired option. Mind you, I'm using pricey van den hul silver interconnects to connect my ipod to a pair of audioengine A2 speakers. (NO I don't work for the company!) . Ever since I moved over to ipods from my regular cd based system, I found I was listening less and less to music because of the generally lacklustre sound from the ipod. But listening to keith Jarett's Paris concert recorded on apple lossless via the AW 2's and my ipod was a revelation. The highs were brilliant, the mids lacked coloration and the bass was tight. Yes! I can listen to my music again!!
Why is this so? Probably because the the internal sound card/dac in the ipod is bypased (so I think, I'm no techno freak)
Oh, yes, and you do get the added comfort of wireless sound. The sound broke up at around 15 feet away into the adjoining room. The one bummer is that it does drain the ipod's battery. My nano lasted about two whole albums, the 160 gb does a bit better at 4 whole albums. A minor niggle considering the vast improvement in sound quality and wireless portability. Kudos to Audioengine for a fine product. Well worth every dollar.

Excellent iPod accessory Aug 13, 2009 I've been struggling with running my iPod through my stereo since I didn't have an MP3 jack in the front panel. I've been using an adapter cord, but didn't like having to interrupt whatever I was doing each time I wanted to change the music.
This is an elegant solution. It is simple to set up and easy to use. It is literally plug and play. The receiving unit does require AC power, and the input cords are quite short. The RCA adapter cord with the unit has female ends, so the manufacturer has anticipated that you will need a patch cord in order to connect to your amp input. There is also an MP3 cord, but it is quite short as well. The transmitter simply plugs into the iPod and you're ready to go. Sound quality is excellent. I don't know the maximum range, but it has a clean signal from anywhere in my 1 bedroom apartment.
Do be aware that the transmitter that attaches to the iPod does drain the battery significantly while in use, so you'll only get about 1/3 of the battery life you're accustomed to. Since it plugs into the jack at the bottom of the iPod, you cannot listen and charge the unit simultaneously. That is the one enhancement I'd recommend. Nonetheless, this is a device I wish I'd gotten when I first got my iPod. It is a little pricey for the simple hardware, but I'm glad I got it.

Fun to use, Easy to Install, SOUNDS GREAT! Jan 30, 2009 Fun to use, Easy to Install, SOUNDS GREAT! I'm a long time audiophile and very picky about music quality. I'm using iPod Classic 80 with music ripped from cds at Apple Lossless rate. Using the Audioengine W2 I get sound as good as a decent cd player. (to me a "decent cd player" costs around $500 :) It is also terrific fun to use - your entire sound library at your fingertips to share with friends via your stereo rather than just yourself using your headphones. Amazing job, thanks Audioengine!
